Understand the listed size
The offer names Clay and men’s 8.5 US but does not specify a wide width. The Tan Second Shift 9 Wide changes model, length and width, so it should not be treated as a simple half-size-up equivalent. If you know your size only in CAT lace-ups, consult the Wheelbase chart and assess its fixed entry shape rather than transferring a successful number automatically.
Protection and the working surface
CAT separately lists a steel toe, EH designation and slip-resistant outsole for Wheelbase. The nylon shank should not be mistaken for a puncture-resistant plate, and the supplied listing does not establish waterproof construction. In particular, an outsole description mentioning water does not mean the upper seals out water.
For a role involving repeated shoe changes, the entry may be useful; for a foot needing substantial zone-by-zone adjustment, laces may be preferable. Check that the opening retains the foot during ordinary stairs and turns. The decision is between closure systems as much as between brand names.
